Camp Thank You Letter

We wrote thank you letters to the parents that helped on camp. Here is my letter.

20 November 2018

Dear Rowan

Thank you Rowan for your amazing help on our camp.

Three challenges for me were, going to sleep because the beds were uncomfortable.
Another challenge for me was not tripping over on the rocky parts of the hike.
The third Challenge for me was the river crossing because It felt like I was going to fall
over in the rocky current.

My three favorite parts of camp were: the Activities / Soccer Because that is when
I learnt how to nutmeg (Ball through the legs) people. The hike Because it wasn’t hard to
do except for the rocks and stones. The delicious food because it was extremely delicious.

Hope you enjoyed the camp.

Ngā mihi
Yours sincerely Korban Bellis

Abandoned Places

In our class we have been working on descriptive writing. We have been using pictures to give us ideas of what to write about. Here is a piece of writing I did.

Abandoned Cottage

The Abandoned Cottage

Have you ever wondered why there are some abandoned cottages out  there in the world. Because I can tell you about one interesting cottage that has been abandoned.

I was playing hide and seek in my creek until I got lost. I was running around and panicking But I fell over. When I got up I saw an Ancient old stone abandoned cottage. I went closer for a better look  and found a diary. I read it and it said.

Hi my name is Jonno. I live in a creaky old stone cottage out in the country with my mother and father. Because I live in a cottage 30 minutes drive from the nearest village I am homeschooled. I have no siblings but that didn’t matter because I like to go Fishing in an amazing creek nearby. Me and my family live by a cemetery  where my Grandad is buried in. One time when I was eleven two of my cousins came to stay for a week in the school holidays. During the first night the cousins stayed we all heard a weird noise coming from the cemetery that sounded like the sound of a bowling ball crashing into bowling pins. The cousins ask if that noise always happens. Me and my parents said no. Mum said it was nothing so we could go back to sleep.

In the morning when we woke up we heard clinking and clanking. The cousins asked what that was. We didn’t know so I said “I don’t know”. After breakfast me and the cousins went hunting for trout in a wide shallow clear water creek. One of the cousins found a trout so he yelled “ I FOUND A TROUT “. In the end we caught 4 trout but we didn’t want to go inside to mum and dad so we went beyond the creek to the old creepy cemetery.  I said to the cousins “ Scared ” but the cousins didn’t answer they were gone. The cousins showed up a minute later behind a huge mossy rock that had little bugs climbing around all over it. I let out a huge sigh of relief when I saw the cousins. The cousins were yelling “ WAIT UP”. they were very loud.

When we got to the cemetery we made a fire and cooked some trout to eat for lunch.
When we finished eating we heard a really loud groan and a rattling of bones.
We were really scared but before we could say run a dirty skeleton hand popped out  of a grave.
The cousins were yelling and screaming but I was staying still. A whole skeleton came out of the
ground and said “What is that good smell”. We didn’t answer. “What's in the basket”.
I said very quietly “Cooked trout”. The skeleton asked “Can I have a bit” I realized that
the skeleton wasn’t hurting us so I said confidently “Yes you can”. I opened the basket and
the skeleton eat one. Then he said in a grand old voice” you know I haven’t eaten in about
200 years. I said we would better get home know.

When we were home and asleep at midnight we woke up to loud music.
A skeleton party was happening with a dozen skeletons Inside the house
. I saw the skeleton of my grandad and he said “Sorry kid but we have to eat all your food.
Firecrackers went off inside and the roof exploded. We are about to run away but I am leaving
this book here for you to read.

I found my way home and told my family everything I read.
