What Now

 What Now

On the 13th of September 2020 room 7 and room 8 went to Shantytown to get gunged and foamed by the New Zealand famous What Now and this is how it started. On Saturday night I was with Nathan just after my birthday weekend and we were really excited for what now so we were talking about it for a bit. But then we eventually fell asleep after about 30 minutes because we were tired from flipping all day. At 6:10am we were woken up by my mum who said that we had to get ready real speedy or else we will be late. So once we had had breakfast and did more morning things we got into the car and waited very excitedly for Zade to get into the car.

When we arrived at Shantytown we had to wait for a bit for the gate to be opened so we could get to the car park to be let in. After about 15 minutes the gate was opened and we drove through to the car park where we got out and were let into Shantytown. Once we went into Shantytown we all had to go into the train station to hand in our consent forms and then the What Now people arrived and their names were Morgan, Erin, Matt and Matt. After they introduced themselves we got on the train to start off the show. We got onto the train and Erin said stuff to the camera while we all walked off the train and through the train station out to where the post office is.

The next thing we did was we went to the fire station where 5 people including my brother were chosen to participate in the say it don’t spray it activity which they had to say a tongue twister and if they failed they got foamed. First up was Jordan who failed the tongue twister and got foamed and everyone laughed. Next up were Emma and Mea who both got it right and didn’t get foamed. Next up were Lucy and Zade who got it wrong and got foamed and it was funny. After that Emma and Mea had to do it again and whoever stuffed it up the most got foamed. Mea lost and got foamed and it was funny which meant that Emma had won. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to get foamed so she got foamed at it was funny.

Next up we went to the gold panning place but I was on the complete other side as everyone else so I wasn’t sure what was happening at this point. But after that we went to the movie theatre where we were told to act like we just watched a TERRIBLE movie and were coming out acting really mad because we spent all of our money to watch that stupid film but in reality I actually liked it.

The next thing we did was called gunge the teacher and what we did was gunge the teacher. What happened was Mrs Newton would sit on a chair with a bucket of gunge above her and a few students were chosen to stand on the other side of the fence with a ball. Mrs Newton was asked a question and if she got it wrong the kids with the balls would throw the balls at a target that was connected to the bucket that tipped the bucket upside down and would let all the gunge out onto Mrs Newton. But if she got the question wrong then all of the kids which is every single kid who was there would get foamed. I can’t quite remember the kids who were chosen but Mrs Newton was asked a bunch of Maori questions and she got the first 4 right which means the kids were all foamed 4 times but on the fifth time she was asked what the longest Maori place name word was and she didn’t know the answer so then everyone threw the balls at the target and Mrs Newton was gunged.

The final thing we did was we all got into a line and Erin foamed us all and everyone got covered in foam and it was fun.

Lake Daniell Recount 2020

 Lake Daniell Recount

On Wednesday the 9th of September 2020 Room 8 went on the Lake Daniell tramp for the William Pike Challenge. We had to be at school at 8:00am so we could get to the lake earlier. When we got to school we went over the leave no trace and not to go into the beech trees. Then we found out what our car groups were. My car group was me, Wyatt and Alex and Warren (Alex’s dad) was the driver. On the way to the start of the tramp we stopped at reefton where we all played ballrush for about 2 minutes and then we continued through the Lewis Pass to the track.

Once we reached the start of the track we all sat down and were given numbers so that we could know if someone was missing we would say 1, 2, 3, 4 and stuff. We started walking and within around 5 minutes we reached the sluice box river. After we went over the sluice box river we went through a bit of bush and then we were next to the Alfred River. We continued going for a while and then we went past this bridge that said 4.1km <>4.3km so we knew we were about half way. We kept going along the track still next to the Alfred River until we turned to a mossy place with lots of bridges. Within around 30 minutes we could see the lake and I got excited so I started to run.

When I got to the lake I dipped my head in the water for some reason but then I just went into the hut. I went into one of the rooms with some of my friends but then we were told to get out so we did. We ate our lunch and then got a photo but then it was time to leave.

On the way back the people around me started to have a moss fight so I threw a few pieces of moss but then we got in trouble for not following the leaving no trace so we had to stay at the back in between (Flynns dad) and Ms Kemp for about an eighth of the way back. Most of us were allowed to go ahead but me and Cailan couldn't because we hit a tree which was sad. When we were walking back me and Cailan found ourselves by ourselves for ages and it was nice and peaceful and we were just talking the whole time. We did that for the rest of the walk back.

When we got back to the car park it turned out that Nathan and Charlie had found a rope swing and that was really fun. Once everyone had made it back we all had to go back so we got into the same cars and left. On the way back Alex and Wyatt were playing music and then I almost fell asleep for some reason. Over all I really enjoyed the tramp and I would definitely do it again.

SSR Week 3 l song lyrics

Wee wee wee, wee wee wee, wee wee wee wee wee wee wee Wee wee wee, wee wee wee, wee wee wee wee wee wee wee! When I was just a wee-wee tot They took me off my wee-wee cot And put me on my wee-wee pot To see if I could wee or not When they found out I could not, They took me from my wee-wee pot. They put me on my wee-wee cot, And there I wee-weed quite a lot. They took me from my wee-wee cot And smacked me on my wee-wee bot This just shows that when it's hot Children shouldn't drink a lot! (sung slowly) When I'm old and turning grey I'll only wee-wee once a day But now I'm young and in my prime (speed up) I WEE-WEE ALMOST ANY TIME!

Matariki Star

For Matariki I made a Matariki star using string and cardboard. Matariki is the Maori celebration for the Maori new year and it represents the seven stars also known as the seven sisters.

Short Story

Short Story

Once upon a time there was a 13 year old boy named Jimarcus who always wore really big
shorts and had short black curly hair. He was getting bullied at his school and every time he
would come home he would bucket down with tears. His parents felt  really sorry for him so they
decided they would move from Mars to New Zealand. So one day he decided he wanted an
Acon Mini Trampoline. So as you would imagine he got one. The thing was he was really bad
at flips and couldn’t even commit to easiest and safest flips ever such as front flips and 360s.
He lived in Greymouth where the closest trampoline park was 3 hours drive away in
Christchurch. One day Jimarcus met a kid called Korban. Korban liked to wear a blue
weetbix tryathlon shirt with navy blue shorts.  Korban could do lots of extreme flips so he
tried to teach Jimarcus a few beginner flips. Jimarcus thought he was going to be great at flips
but he still wouldn’t even commit to the easiest and safest tricks. Korban decided that if he was
going to learn more tricks they had to go to the Christchurch trampoline park. The thing was
they had no way to get there because Korban and Jimarcus were only 13 so Korban got a blue
airbed and pumped it up. They got some food and drinks and 30 dollars for the trampoline park.
They put the air bed into a nearby river and went PEWWWWW down the river.

2 days later they ran out of food to eat. They still had water but they had only passed Otira
1 hour ago. 30 starving minutes later they arrived at Arthurs Pass where they jumped off the
air bed in search of some food. First they tried to get a free mince and cheese pie from a shop
which failed because they looked like 13 year old trouble makers asking for free stuff. They got
back onto the airbed and floated down to a bumpy bridge a few minutes drive from Arthurs Pass.
They struggled to bring the airbed to the top of the bridge but they managed. They walked along
to the end of the bridge right at the corner where they saw a sign for a hike. They ended up at a
dirty car park next to a shining river where they headed down to sit and sob. They were sitting at
the surface of the river weeping when they saw a cool car pull up to the car park beside them.

Out jumped a fat tiger, three people all around the same size and a green parrot. The tiger was
a big fat tiger that was so heavy that it walked with its tummy around 1cm from the ground.
The large tiger's name is Chonk. The boys were called Tony, Nathan and Craig. Tony wore red
shorts with a blue shirt and had long black hair that went down to his forehead and ears like a
bowl cut. Nathan liked to wear white shirts with short red sleaves and had short curly blonde
hair. He also likes wearing black shorts with a white logo on the front left side of his shorts.
Craig had very very long brown hair that went down past his toes. He wore a plain brown shirt
and plain brown shorts and plain brown undies. Honk was a small green parrot with a
yellow - orange beak. Honk also had a private plane and a private pilot whose name was
Nathaniel. Nathaniel wore glasses but Nathaniel doesn’t come along in the story.

Korban said “hi we are lost and we really need your help to get to Christchurch”. They were
getting splashed by the fat tiger Chonk. The boys' names were Tony, Nathan and Craig and
the Parrot was called Honk. They let Korban and Jimarcus into the car as they all drove off
to Christchurch together. It was a safe and normal ride until Jimarcus who was sitting in the
back with the tiger Chonk tried to pat Chonk who bit Jimarcus’s fingernail off. But luckily
Jirmarcus can grow fingernails back really quickly. They made it to the trampoline park
and Jimarcus’s fingernail was slowly growing back. They made it into the Trampoline
park where they started flipping and where Jimarcus is learning a bunch of new flips.

Suddenly Honk the parrot was kicked out of Trampoline park for running and double bouncing.
In an instant Craig starts doing insane quad flips like they were the easiest thing ever.
Korban goes over to the super tramps and starts throwing around a bunch of triples and
then even starts quading like Craig. By the end of the session Korban had done a septuple
backflip and the people who worked there were so impressed that they gave everybody a
little gift each for entertaining them. After that everybody lived happily ever after as great
friends and slept over at each other's house every weekend.
